BGT Skills Centre

We thoroughly prepare people for a career in manufacturing and engineering

Our Skills Centre has been specifically designed to provide quality one-on-one tuition. Participants learn the hands on skills of engineering such as fabrication, cutting and welding and are also educated in engineering disciplines like Drawing Interpretation, Geometric Development and Quality Systems and Procedures.

The facility enables our trainers to provide first class training to apprentices in a simulated workplace environment, delivering better prepared, more broadly skilled and competent graduates.

Training and Placement

Connected to industry

BGT’s Skills Centre (SC) has been in operation since 23 March 2005. In this time the Skills Centre has facilitated the training and placement of students, all genders, into employment and apprenticeships in the manufacturing industry across Ballarat and the surrounding areas. Our training program is designed around the Certificate II in Engineering and incorporates welding, thermal cutting, fabrication and basic fitting and turning skills.

The Skills Centre has strong links with industry. These relationships enable our experienced instructors to impart current industry best practice techniques to our students. This develops students' confidence in their skill level when they are applying for an apprenticeship or industry related position.

Over the years, we have consistently provided training that maximises the opportunity for our participants to gain apprenticeships in the engineering field.
