Individual and Disability Support

Our nationally recognised Individual & Disability Support qualifications provide the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence you need to make a real difference in people’s lives.
We currently offer two qualifications - they are outlined below.

Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021)
The Certificate III in Individual Support is the entry point into the care industry. It’s ideal for people wanting to work in aged care, disability support, or community settings. You’ll develop the core skills to provide person-centred support to individuals who may require assistance due to ageing, disability, or other reasons.

What you’ll learn:
- Delivering person-centred care and support
- Communicating effectively with clients, families, and colleagues
- Working safely in care environments (including infection prevention and WHS)
- Supporting independence and well-being
- Meeting individual needs with empathy, dignity, and respect
Course details:
Duration: Approx. 12 months (varies depending on placement and delivery mode)
Work placement: Minimum of 120 hours in an approved care setting
Delivery: Blended learning – classroom, online, and workplace placement
Entry requirements:
Working with Children Check, Police Check, and evidence of vaccination (as required by placement provider)
Certificate IV in Disability Support (CHC43121)
The Certificate IV in Disability Support builds on the skills of Certificate III and is designed for those looking to take on more specialised roles or leadership positions within the disability sector. You’ll learn how to empower people with disability, promote community inclusion, and provide advanced support in a variety of contexts.

- NDIS support worker
- Team leader or supervisor in disability services
- Community inclusion officer
What you’ll learn:
- Implementing behaviour support strategies
- Facilitating community participation and inclusion
- Coordinating and monitoring support services
- Working with diverse people and complex needs
- Promoting rights, independence, and advocacy
Course details:
Duration: Approx. 12–18 months (depending on delivery mode and placement)
Work placement: Minimum of 120 hours in a disability service organisation
Delivery: Blended learning – classroom, online, and workplace placement
Entry requirements:
Completion of Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent experience recommended; Working with Children Check, Police Check, and vaccination evidence required
Short Courses in Care & Disability Support
Alongside our full qualifications, we also offer short courses to upskill or refresh your knowledge in community care and disability services.
Examples include:
- Manual Handling for Care Workers (half-day practical workshop)
- Infection Prevention & Control (1 day)
- Supporting Independence & Choice (1 day)
