Trainer & Assessor - Early Childhood Education
The role of Trainer & Assessor Early Childhood Education is an integral part of our enthusiastic team of trainers working towards enabling students to reach their full potential. Our training department provides a variety of accredited courses providing students with the practical job ready skills for employment in their chosen field.
As a Trainer & Assessor your role will be to provide classroom and workplace training to our students here at BGT. As trainers you will be expected to work within our team to help develop course content, support streamlined processes and ensure our service delivery is exceptional.

Position Tasks
- Assisting in the development, maintenance and delivery of energetic training programs, applying a variety of delivery methods (including flexible delivery), which reflects best practice delivery methodology.
- Actively participate in resource validation and moderation.
- Prepare, maintain, coordinate and evaluate delivery and learning resources.
- Management of student files, including the filing of all training resources in accordance with current BGT Policy.
- Work collaboratively as an effective team member.
- Assist with industry consultation, liaising with employers and placement hosts.
- Provide pre-course advice to students and participate in student selection and induction.
- Undertake administrative and coordination duties related to the learning programs delivery function.
- Assist with diagnosing student Language, Literacy and Numeracy difficulties.
- Provide advice and guidance within areas of specialist expertise.
- Undertake research efforts to ensure continuous improvement to your training offering.
- Contributing to the achievement of Training targets and benchmarks.
- Implement relevant responsibilities with the Continuous Improvement Register which incorporates AQTF requirements.
- Other duties as directed by the Training Manager.
Key Selection Criteria
Applicants must address the following selection criteria in writing to be considered for this position:
- Current vocational skills and knowledge, which will enable innovative support programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the current issues influencing the vocational education and Training.
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse range of students, including those with learning difficulties.
- Demonstrated experience in the VET system with training & assessing experience.
- Proven experience working with technologies and training systems.
- Proven ability to research and seek out learning materials for service training.
- Proven written and verbal communications skills.
- Proven ability to work among a team of motivated and passionate staff.
Qualifications/ Registrations
These do not need to be addressed in the selection criteria but must be included on your resume:
- Certificate IV Training & Assessment.
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or Higher
- Recent Satisfactory Police Check.
- Current Working with Children’s Check.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License.

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITIONS
As part of our ongoing board renewal process, we currently have vacancies for Directors to contribute to the governance and leadership of our organisation.
BGT Jobs & Training Ballarat is a registered Not-For-Profit, incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012. In 1986 we began with a philosophy of providing young people with employment opportunities to reach their full potential and to provide employers with well skilled and suitable staff. While today, we offer a much broader range of services, our original philosophy remains as strong as ever - to create positive life-stories for our local youth and the wider community. BGT is the lead tenant of Barky Square which brings together aligned organisations working across training, employment pathways, education and wellbeing services.
As part of our ongoing board renewal process, we currently have vacancies for Directors to contribute to the governance and leadership of our organisation.
Responsibilities of Board Directors include:
• A commitment to the vision and values of BGT.
• Willingness to become actively involved in the development and implementation of our strategic plan and growth strategies.
• A capacity and capability to contribute to the strong governance of BGT.
Ideally, we are seeking those with experience and demonstrated knowledge in the following areas, however a range of appropriate skills will be considered:
- Program funding and financial oversight
- Legal / Regulatory skills and experience
- Cyber security and IT oversight
- Education and Training experience
