BGT Jobs & Training are currently looking for a Statutory Planning and Regulatory Services Trainee to play a vital role in delivering a range of administrative functions to support the objectives and work outputs of the team for Moorabool Shire Council.

Position Objectives: 


The Trainee will work conjunction with highly experienced professionals with the key objective the role is to learn and assist the Statutory Planning and Regulatory Services Unit with delivering a range of administrative and process functions to support the objectives and work outputs of the team.


  • Assist the Statutory Planning and Regulatory Services Unit in administering Council’s responsibilities for the administration and enforcement of relevant legislation and policies within Moorabool Shire.
  • Develop the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to complete a Certificate 3 in Business.
  • Contribute to the success of the Statutory Planning and Regulatory Services Unit through active teamwork and effective performance of the responsibilities and duties of the position.

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

Under guidance and supervision, assisting council officers with:

  • Administrative processes in the service unit as required.
  • Customer service and correspondence (verbal and written).
  • Other general administrative duties as appropriate to the role.
  • Provide a positive personal contribution to the successful operation of the Statutory Planning and Regulatory Services Unit.
  • Prepare draft reports, infringements, notices and correspondence as required.
  • Provide advice and liaise with relevant stakeholders including ratepayers, builders, occupiers and other Council departments via telephone, email and in person with related enquiries.
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the skills and abilities as deemed reasonable and appropriate to the role as directed from time to time.


Skills and Experience: 

  • A commitment to delivering valued customer service in a timely manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team outcomes
  • Willingness to learn and provide accurate administration support within a busy corporate environment including managing differing and changing priorities
  • Computer literacy skills across Microsoft applications, with attention to detail
  • Good communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships both internally and externally
