BGT Jobs & Training are currently looking for a Governance Trainee to play a vital role in delivering a range of administrative functions to support the objectives and work outputs of the team for Moorabool Shire Council.
- Complete Certificate III in Business.
- Full time role – 1 Year Traineeship.
- Location – Darley.

Position Objectives: The Governance Trainee will work in conjunction with highly experienced professionals and assist in the delivery of actions and activities within the service unit. The trainee will learn to provide support to the Governance & Civic Support service unit, delivering a range of administrative and other functions to support team objectives and help deliver governance support and solutions across Moorabool Shire Council.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
General Administrative Support
- General administrative tasks across the service unit (e.g. ordering catering, ensuring availability of relevant documentation and set-up of council meetings, scheduling appointments and meetings)
- Preparing and distributing internal emails and/or posts
- Preparing purchase orders and requisitions
- Other general administrative duties as appropriate to the role
Communications Support
- Under guidance and supervision, assisting Governance team with:
- Collating and responding to requests to speak at Council meetings
- Collating public question requests
- Updating of Council’s website and intranet pages with supplied and approved content
- Updating Council registers for publication on Council’s website
- Planning and organising catering for Council meetings
- Liaising with subject matter experts in regard to governance-related queries
- Creating ID cards
- Preparation of documents to be available during Council meetings
- Other governance-related activities
Skills and Experience:
- A commitment to delivering valued customer service in a timely manner
- Well developed communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team outcomes
- Willingness to learn and provide accurate administration support within a busy corporate environment including managing differing and changing priorities
- An understanding of the discretion required when managing sensitive information
- Computer literacy skills across Microsoft applications, with attention to detail
