The CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is the first steppingstone towards a career in an Early Childhood setting. Whether it be a long day care, family day care, pre-schools or kindergarten, this qualification will equip a learner with the skills and knowledge to assist in providing a healthy, safe and caring environment for children.

Undertaking this qualification as a traineeship will allow you to work within the industry and study at the same time. Gaining invaluable insight into caring for children and nurturing their development from passionate educators and qualified early childhood educators with current skills, in depth knowledge and industry experience.

Learning Outcomes:
Successful completion of Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will equip the learner with the following learning outcomes: ​
  • Learn to support children’s wellbeing and development in the context of an approved learning framework. 
  • Learn to plan and deliver educational programs that focus on supporting children’s wellbeing, learning and development
  • Support both inclusion and diversity within an early childhood setting
  • Ensure the health and safety of children
  • Work in collaboration with families and the wider community
  • Support the holistic development of children
  • The identification of children at risk and the responsibilities of educators.

Course structure
To achieve this qualification, you need to complete 17 units of study, fifteen core units plus two elective units. Click here for more information

Practical Placement
As part of the course, you will be required to complete 160 hours of practical placement in the workplace, if undertaking this course as a traineeship, these hours are achieved through your employment. 
​

Completing practical placement will:
  • Give you invaluable workplace experience
  • Maximise your employment prospects
  • Consolidate your learning
  • Give you exposure in the industry

​​Entry requirement
A valid Working with Children Check and clear national police check may be required to undertake placement. You will be unable to complete full course requirements without completing placement. 

Prior to enrolling in the course, you will be invited to attend a pre-course briefing. This is an opportunity to meet with the BGT team, discuss the course in more detail and ask any questions. This will ensure that you choose a course, and career pathway that is right for you.

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding to eligible individuals.
