Conflict of Interest Policy Statement
Ballarat Group Training (BGT) is a not for profit organisation with the core business being employment and training of Apprentices and Trainees and hiring them out to Host Employers.
As Board Members and Staff of a not for profit community based company, we must be impartial and fair in our dealings with clients, key stakeholders and the general public. Their trust, confidence and support of BGT's goals and objectives are necessary if we are to do our job well.
The choice of individuals or organisations with whom BGT may have a business relationship must be determned solely on the basis of the best business interest of BGT and its membership.
Situations will determine whether the interest in question is such as to bring it within the area of a potential conflict. Such situations would include the amount of influence BGT's decision with respect to the transaction and whether the interest is of such a nature that it might affect the objectivity or the business judgement. In determining whether a conflict is involved, there is no substitute for sound judgement in each situation upon the particular facts involved.
It is therfore important that we consider what other people might think of the situation. These other people could include, for example, unsuccessful tenderers, other potential suppliers, other businesses, Board Members and staff or members of the community.
Any potential, real or pereived conflict between an individual's interests and those of BGT must be resolved in favour of BGT.
