Field Officer Profiles
BGT Field Officers are a vital link in assuring quality outcomes for candidates undertaking apprenticeships and traineeships. Field Officers are required to monitor the performance of the apprentice or trainee, provide pastoral care, intervene in disputes and rotate BGT apprentices or trainees when necessary.
The field officers are able to assist young people with their career choice having the potential to maximise completion of training contracts. BGT field officers are particulary effective in assisting with school to work transition for young people.
BGT field officers are actively educating the community, whether that is employers, employees, parents or schools on their responsibilties and rights in respect of employment and training. Our field officers can disuss with you the option of full or part time apprenticeships or traineeships, VET in schools programs, school based apprenticeships, career advise, aptitude assessment and school career information sessions.
Ian Harris - Field Officer Ian has worked within the manufacturing industry for many years, with a qualification in Boiler Making he was previously employed in a senior role with responsibilties for recruiting and supervising staff. Ian brings extensive trade knowledge and experience in supporting both businesses and apprentices within Industry. Ian is currently a Junior Basketball coach, mentoring and managing local youth in the Ballarat competition. Email Ian
Lauren Dunne - Field Officer Lauren has worked over 12 years in the Retail Industry, including 9 years Management experience. For the past 4 years Lauren has worked in advertising working alongside businesses to help them build their profile through print media and radio. With Lauren’s versatile experience of working in retail, admin, sales and hospitality she understands what businesses require from an employee. Lauren finds it very rewarding to place and work with trainees and apprentices and watch them flourish and succeed. Email Lauren
Amy Weavell - Field Officer Western Region Amy has extensive recruitment experience working in this industry for five years. She has been flying the skies as a flight attendant for Virgin Blue for the past twelve months as well as working in the child care industry. Amy completed a certificate II in sport and recreation while at school, and also has a degree in sports administration. She has worked in administration roles for many years within a number of small and large sporting organisations and government departments. Kylie Spark - Field Officer Western Region Kylie has a background working in the Retail Industry and Allied Health Industry as a Physical Therapist. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science. Kylie has worked with various small businesses and through this understands the day to day challenges businesses face and the importance of having great staff. Kylie has experience in the industry and is committed to finding the right apprentice or trainee for your business. Marilyn Morley - Training Manager Marilyn has extensive knowledge and experience in Vocational Educational and Training covering a broad cross section of industry including Business, Retail and Community Services. Marilyn has a Diploma of Education and an Advanced Certificate in Residential and Community Services. Having worked extensively in the community sector Marilyn has the skills and knowledge to assist business owners to assess their workforce and skill needs and prepare an action plan to address those needs.
As Training Manager, Marilyn leads a team of highly qualified trainers who will assist clients in identifying and implementing effective training strategies that are adaptive and responsive to the individual needs of all users of the training system. Email Marilyn
Stacie Duke - Training Services Coordinator Stacie has worked in the employment and training industries since 2000 completing various qualifications in Business Administration, Employment Services, Disability Works and Training and Assessment. This has allowed Stacie to develop a range of skills to a high standard predominantly in the administration fields. Shane Armstrong - Training Coordinator Industry Skills Centre (Manufacturing, Warehousing & Logistics) Shane came to us directly from the Automotive Manufacturing industry having gained extensive experience as a trainer in Lean Manufacturing & Toyota Production Systems. Prior to this he spent 10 years in food manufacturing in roles ranging from Logistics, Management and Training. Shane is committed to providing quality training and support. Email Shane
Gavin Gracie - Trainer & Assessor (Automotive, Manufacturing) Gavin comes to BGT after working in the Automotive trade for 18 years. Gavin has extensive skills and knowledge in panel beating and spray painting and provides training delivery to learners of all ages. Email Gavin
Darren Werry - Trainer & Assessor (Manufacturing) Darren has worked in various Manufacturing/maintenance industries for 29 years and has a wealth of experience in this field. Darren has completed a Diploma in Engineering Advanced Trade, Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and Frontline Management. Until recently Darren comes to us from the farming industry in Ararat and prior to this he served in the military for several years providing maintenance to the Army. Darren believes in good training will produce the best results in the youth of today. Email Darren
Vicky Hodgson - Training Coordinator (Retail, Training and Assessment) Vicky has worked in the Retail/Hospitality industry for 25 years and has a wealth of experience in deliving high quality training courses to the local community. Vicky has completed a Diploma in Training & Assessment, Certicate IV in Retail Management and a completion in Auditing units. Vicky delivers training and assessment to a broad group of learners including school based and adult learners. Bart Turnbull-Gent – Trainer & Assessor (Hospitality & Small Business Management) Bart has been in the Hospitality industry for over 19 years operating Hotels and Restaurants and most recently Area Management of 54 Bars and Restaurants in the United Kingdom. Bart’s extensive experience in not only running day to day operations at hospitality venues but multi site management as well, has given him a wide range of exposure to the industry. Bart has completed his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and has an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality and uses his vast experience to deliver a realistic, professional suite of courses for the Hospitality Industry. Donna Murrell - Trainer & Assessor (Business, Training and Assessment) Donna has worked in the training industry for over 6 years. Over this time she has delivered training to numerous client groups including adult learners, school based learners and people with disabilities. Donna believes you are never too old to learn and encourages everyone to gain a new skill or qualification. Class room based and on the job training has been an on going part of Donna’s experience and has included accredited and non accrediated courses and classes. Donna likes to create a flexible learning approach encouraging learners to work at their own level and pace. Francis is able to tailor training solutions for businesses and offer advise to individuals looking to upskill their qualifications. Francis believes that life is one long journey of learning. Alesha McKenzie - Trainer & Assessor (Business, Retail) Alesha has worked in the retail and business industries for the past 10 years allowing her to develop a wealth of knowledge and experience. Alesha has completed several qualifications in the areas of Business, Retail, Training and Assessment and Employment Services and provides training to a broad range of learners both in the workplace and classroom. Liz Burns - Trainer & Assessor (Community Services) Liz previously has had experience as a Primary School and Kindergarten teacher including positions in nursing and the retail industry. She has completed a comprehensive list of studies with a Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Community Services/Childcare and Certificate IV in Training & Assessment. Liz delivers BGT's VETiS program for Community Services. Liz is a passionate Tigers supporter and MCC member and loves to travel. Email Liz
Megan Daniel - Trainer & Assessor (Community Services) Megan comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Children Services industry. Megan a Diploma in Children Services and has completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. Megan currently delivers BGT's VET in Schools program for Community Services. Pathway Development Officers are allocated clients within the Highlands Youth Connections region.
Staff meet with eligible young people both in the school environment and in a variety of other locations, depending on their needs and suitability.
